Gold Winners: Sunny’s Sushi

There is more that goes into a successful business than just good food, and if you’ve ever had the pleasure to dine at Sunny’s Sushi, you know they have plenty of that. While Sunny’s has been open for 12 years, it is an inherited business that became a joint venture for partners Pj Liu and John and Yuree Lee, along with partners Roy Lee, Ana Ahn and Ryan Yoo. As co-owners they have found the recipe for success and it has made it that much easier to duplicate through their expansion to 3 new locations within the past few years. Although, each having a background in the restaurant business certainly helped. “It’s all about having the right people on your team,” PJ says.

Despite being immigrants, all co-owners are El Pasoans through and through, having been here for more than 20 years. “El Paso is home, and through Sunny’s, along with our other business like The Grove, we as partners, in addition to our employees, are focused on providing new experiences with fresh food and excellent service,” John says. Having been partners for 8 years, Pj and John still value the happiness they get when they see people enjoying not only their food, but the service and every other detail that has been carefully selected for the success of their businesses. “We value experience and training is important in retaining the consistency throughout our restaurants,” they say.
